1. Who we are

This policy applies to the RIP DayZ community platform: the website and player portal, the Brian Discord bot, and the DayZ log-ingestion services that power statistics, feeds, factions, achievements and the community economy. The platform is operated by the RIP DayZ community staff team for the benefit of the community.

The community acts as the controller of the personal data described here, operating under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection 2018 principles where applicable.

2. Data we process

  • Discord account identifiers — your Discord user ID, username/display name and avatar where supplied by Discord, used to identify you across the bot and website.
  • Xbox/DayZ identity — gamertags and DayZ player identifiers linked to your account (GameIdentity records), including historical gamertag aliases.
  • Gameplay and admin log data — events derived from DayZ server logs (Nitrado ADM/RPT files): connections, disconnections, positions, damage, kills, deaths, building/placement and other in-game actions.
  • Player statistics and progression — computed stats, leaderboards, seasons, challenges, achievements and badges derived from gameplay events.
  • Session data — connect/disconnect times and related session information from server logs.
  • Faction data — memberships, roles, faction banks and related activity you take part in.
  • Virtual economy data — wallet balances, transactions, ledger entries, trader/invoices and lottery participation where those features are enabled.
  • Tickets — the contents of support tickets you open, including message transcripts where transcript capture is enabled.
  • Moderation records — cases, warnings, suspensions, bans, appeals and notes recorded by staff.
  • Account-linking records — gamertag link requests, verification state and unlink history.
  • Audit and security records — administrative actions, configuration changes and security-relevant events, kept for integrity and accountability.

3. Why we process it

  • To provide the service — sign-in, profiles, the bot and the player portal.
  • To track gameplay statistics, leaderboards, seasons and achievements.
  • To operate factions, the virtual economy and related community features.
  • For community administration and moderation, including enforcing server rules.
  • For fraud, abuse and security — detecting exploits, identity abuse and cheating.
  • To provide support through the ticket system.
  • For service reliability — understanding ingestion health, error states and platform behaviour.

Our lawful bases are primarily: performance of the community service you request, legitimate interests in running and securing the community, and your consent where a feature requires it.

4. Where the data lives

Platform data is stored in a hosted Postgres database (Supabase) and processed by the services that run the bot, the DayZ ingestion agent and the website. Operationally, the current deployment involves:

  • Discord — authentication, the bot, feeds, tickets and community identity. Your use of Discord is governed by Discord's own privacy policy.
  • Supabase — database hosting and storage of platform records.
  • Vercel — website hosting where the public site is deployed.
  • Nitrado — the DayZ game server host; gameplay logs are read from the server's file system. Nitrado holds the server's own operational data under its own terms.

We do not sell personal data. We do not currently run advertising or analytics trackers on the website.

5. How long we keep it

The platform does not currently apply fixed automated retention periods to all categories. In general terms:

  • Gameplay events, statistics and ledger records are kept while they are needed for the service and community history.
  • Moderation and audit records are kept for accountability, even after an account is removed or unlinked, where necessary to enforce rules and protect the community.
  • Ticket transcripts are kept as needed for support quality and moderation context.

When retention practices are automated or formalised they will be reflected here.

6. Your rights

Subject to UK data-protection law you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability where applicable.

  • Access/correction — you can view your profile, linked gamertags and much of your data in the player portal; contact staff for anything else.
  • Unlinking — you can unlink gamertags yourself; this stops new gameplay being attributed to you. Historical events already recorded may remain as part of community records.
  • Deletion — you may request deletion of your account data; some records (moderation, audit, ledger integrity) may be retained where we have a lawful need, including community safety and dispute handling.

Unlinking or deleting a Discord account does not automatically delete historical gameplay records held under a linked gamertag — those records are tied to the game identity, not the Discord login. Contact staff if you need help with a request.

7. Security

The platform uses hosted infrastructure and access controls appropriate to a community service, including least-privilege service credentials and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; we take reasonable measures but cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

The service is intended for members of the RIP Discord community and follows Discord's own age requirements. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone not permitted to hold a Discord account.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date reflects the current version. Significant changes will be announced in the community Discord where practical.

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact staff through the community Discord — the ticket system is the primary channel. See also our Terms of Service.
